Olivia Rodrigo: Get The Look

Olivia Rodrigo Disney star turned chart topper with her debut album ‘Sour’, is already making a name for herself in fashion with her eclectic taste here’s how to get her look (for all budgets).

POP PUNK! Her clothes have a punk influence as well as her music. Balancing leather platform boots against girly kitschy pieces.

Olivia and Dua Lipa are both at the forefront of the Vivienne Westwood revival Olivia recently performed on SNL in a tartan corset & trouser set. Westwood is set to become incredibly popular once again with all the noughties nostalgia and rise in popularity of the modern corset (a Vivienne Westwood corset being the holy grail some retailing at around £1500 second hand). While still in the early days of the Westwood revival now is the time to search on second hand sites like Depop or Vinted for a bargain with many items under £100. Look for pieces with tartan or the orb logo (the pearl/orb chokers are very in atm): very versatile and trendy but still very punk. Pair these pieces with a girly aesthetic: floral summer dresses, lace dresses, sequins & shades of pink to steal Olivia’s look.

Bag: Johanna Cross body bag £147, Corset: Portrait Corset £675, Vest: Lisa Vest in Fluorescent pink £275 & Choker: Three row pearl bas relief choker £340 (All Vivienne Westwood)

Tartan (especially in kilt form) is a common favourite of Olivia and perfect for autumn/winter. Easy to get in all price ranges and colours for a more punk look head for more neon tones like yellow or purple for a more wearable everyday look try a classic tartan or lighter pastel shades. With Kilts i feel its better to invest a more expensive better quality version as cheaper kilts often look… cheap. Kilts will never date and a good quality kilt will last forever. If your looking to spend less however there are plenty of high quality second hand kilts online.

Olivia seen often in extreme platforms in sandal and boot form: similar platforms heavily featured in this years Vogue and Harper’s September issues and in the collections of designers like Prada & Versace and are definitely here to stay. A favorite of mine is 70’s inspired ‘disco’ boots especially the ‘aria’ boots by Terry De Havilland. Her iconic white house platforms by Giuseppe Zanotti are currently on sale in multiple colour ways and are a must have !

As seen in the White House, preppy-gossip girl-Elle woods inspired outfit’s are a popular look of Olivia’s. To get the look in an autumn/winter style look for skirt suits (preferably tweed Chanel inspired) and pair with an off the wall statement piece like extreme platforms or a Paris Hilton style graphic tee to keep the look edgy. There are plenty of great Chanel inspired tweed suits (and some real Chanel suits) on ASOS marketplace.

Make a statement: statement pieces

Olivia like myself a fan of statement pieces I would highly recommend investing in a stand out piece: something garish and out there that goes with nothing, goes with everything and always adds a bit of interest to any outfit. Things like these rarely date it’s the best way to avoid the rapid trend cycles of fast fashion without filling your wardrobe with boring basics my favourite place to (window) shop for statement pieces is Annie’s of ibiza: an amazing designer boutique full of unique items both vintage and new.

Trousers : WOVEN VINTAGE FLORAL SLOUCHY FIT JEANS jaded london £45.50 White Jacket: mushroom trip jacket by Momma’s blues from Annie’s of Ibiza £1350 Coat: Scarlett coat from Shrimps £695 Dress: louis mini dress by Clio Peppiatt from Annie’s of Ibiza £1950
